This week topic is talking about social group. Lecturer want us to observe any social group in any location that crowds of people. Finally I had choose Midvalley shopping mall as my location. Time duration is 8.30pm - 9.30pm.
The target audience I chosen is couples. Age is around 20 - 50 years old. Why I choose them is because there are a lot of couple shopping in that night. Next I will describe what I had observed.
Midvalley Centre Court - 8.30pm
This is the Centre court of Midvalley that a lot of people normally pass by.So I try to get my target audience over here.I took around 10 min to observe, finally I had found more than 50% are couples. So I had choose them as my target audience.
2nd floor - 8.45pm
I try to move to another side to observe deeply about my target audiences. What I had found over here is, Age around 20 - 30 years old couple normally just 'window shopping' which means not buying anything and just walk around the shopping. Those couple will hold each others hands and chit chatting with each others too. But for those couple who ages around 30-40, they normally will buy something like cloths, shoes and so on, but for this ages people,half of them are dislike to hold each other hands while shopping and seldom chit chat with each others.
Ground floor - 9.10pm
I tried to walk around in ground floor to get more information. This is one of the couple that I captured. The ages is around 40-45 years old. Over here, we can see both couple are holding each other hands and another hand are holding something. The man carry a plastic of food and beverage, but women are holding a 2 bag of perfumes and shirt. Besides that, I found out that guys will carry something heavy and important stuff and for girl they will carry some light things.
For the conclusion, What I observe different ages people have different purpose or different ways to shopping. For young couples, they normally didn't buy anything and enjoying walk around the shopping mall. For those couple who around 30 year old, their shopping purpose is just for buying something for their own needs like shirt, shoes ,watches and so on. For those couple around 40 years old, they will buy some food and beverage, household appliance which is useful and important to them.
